Rosann Winn Biography

Rosann Winn is a Singer-Songwriter, Jazz Vocalist, and Private Music Instructor based in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is passionate about fostering connection and community through music and the arts. Through her performances and recorded music Rosann shares stories of love, loss, hope, faith, and belief with a humble heart. Her writing draws from life experiences of marriage, raising daughters, losing parents, being a caregiver, and staying positive through the highs and lows of life's journeys. Rosann's performance style is engaging and connecting, and she brings unique authenticity to the events and gatherings she is a part of.

Over the past three decades of making music Rosann has booked countless performances in Fort Collins and the surrounding region (and before that in the Rochester, Minnesota area) as a solo, duo and combo group artist performing an eclectic blend of original folk, jazz standards, and acoustic music.  Rosann's vocal style has been described as smooth, light, and melodic and listeners have shared that they experience her singing as relaxing, soothing, and comforting.

Rosann has performed music for community concert series and festivals, country clubs and corporate events, weddings and private events, senior living communities, restaurants, wineries, and coffeehouses. She has shared the stage with many musicians from the classical, folk and jazz genres, and has performed in many settings, from solo and duo voice-guitar-piano performances to small combos, to 14 years spent as lead vocalist with the 18-piece Colorado Swing Big Band. She also was a co-leader of the contemporary worship band at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Fort Collins for 10 years (and continues there as a member and musician).

Rosann founded her record label Set It Free Music in 1999 and has released four recordings - her debut "Looking Back", "An Acoustic Collection", "Wish & Smile", and her latest album "Gift" released in March 2020. Rosann's song "Not Alone" was included on the Fort Collins Rocks Local Music Compilation-Volume 2. Her song "Looking Back" was featured on the Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County Compilation #1, and Rosann recorded the song "The Very Thought of You" for use in the Pathways Hospice theatre production of Tuesdays with Morrie. She was also featured on three vocal tracks for an album of swing era favorites recorded by the Colorado Swing Big Band at the University of Northern Colorado recording studios. Currently Rosann is currently working on promoting her new album, Gift, as well as writing and recording new music for a fifth album release.

Additionally, Rosann has been a private music instructor for the past 25+ years, offering lessons in voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, songwriting, and performance technique. She currently teaches a small number of students in her home studio, and she is in the process of launching a new virtual studio in 2023. Rosann's music teaching studio mission is "to foster a love and understanding of music and a means of personal expression and creativity in beginning and intermediate students of music."
